To cut the long story short: The men who stare at goats (IMDB) could have been great. But afterall I just can reward 9.5 out of 10 for the trailer, but only 3 out of 10 for themovie itself. This could've been so great. George Clooney, Ewan McGregor, Jeff Bridges and Kevin Spacey did a good job. But putting all good jokes in the trailer just kills a movie. Sorry.

Turned out quite nice, but I noticed that there isn't a 64bit driver for Windows 7 for my camera on the Canon site. Damn. I couldn't find my card reader either and since the 350D uses compact flash cards there was no other way as using the USB connection but after plugging the camera I just got the message from Windows that there is no driver found. I experimented a bit and thought I just give it a shot and switch the USB connection type from "PC" to "Print/PTP" and surprise: It works like a charm. Windows 7 instantly finds a driver and you're able to browse through the photos and download them without searching for a specific driver. Problem solved!

Apple sues HTC for patent infringement.

Sorry to say, but Apple is quite hypocritical. On the one hand they "recycle" tons of designs of Dieter Rams (Gizmodo has a nice gallery) and call their rip-offs a homage and on the other hand they file lawsuits against Nokia and now HTC. Seems someone is anxious that his crowd-puller looses some market share against the phones with Android or the coming Windows Phone 7! Software patents are for wieners anyway!

Another nice evening spent with good friends in cinema. I just returned home from seeing Shutter Island (IMDB) starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Kingsley, Max von Sydow and Mark Ruffalo. The trailer made me expect a horror movie, but what I got was a kind of psycho thriller with a ending I didn't expect.

SPOILER: A lot of effort was put in building up the story of Teddy and it fully worked for me. In the end the hero is not what you think or expect him to be and you realize that in the end there is just a very sad man that can't take his life anymore. And a bunch of people helping him. The musical score is dark and sometimes too dramatic, but fitting. I like endings that are like life. Not always nice. Not always happy. Not always endings. This one has a ending. Teddy finally knows and decides for the way that at least helps him to erase all the sad memories. For him. Sad. But a good movie.

9.5 out of 10. For me. Most definately.

Skype decided to drop the support for the current Windows Mobile versions. I don't care that much, since Skype for Windows Mobile 3.0 is installed on my device and it's running flawlessly. In a ridiculous blog entry the guys over at Skype complain that it is difficult to maintain a application on the large amount of devices. Surely it isn't easier to maintain a iPhone app that's only running on a single device that has no real multitasking at all, but up to now I thought of Skype as a company that is also good in developing. Sadly not. Nevertheless the application works like a charm on my HTC Touch Diamond and if you're searching for the install of the latest version, you can still download the version 3.0 here.

For a private project I did the famous three share buttons for Facebook, Twitter and one for E-Mail. They look like this:

You can download a full resolution PNG (with transparency) here.
If you use them on one of your sites or in a project, a comment in this entry with the URL would be great. Thanks.

At the moment all my waves in Google Wave are gone and the interface behaves strangely. Hope this will only be a temporary problem as I HAVEN'T SAVED ALL MY STUFF IN THERE!!!! :D

Overall I find Google Wave quite useful and I use it a lot to tackle projects I have together with other people. It's quite intuitive but I think there could be more useful tools in there for polls and stuff.

This evening I celebrated the Valentine's Day with my girlfriend in the cinema. We went to see It's complicated (IMDB) starring Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin. The plot was quite nice and we had really a lot of good laughs. All the actors did a nice job and played very well. If only I hadn't had such a idiot sitting beneath me giving primitive comments all the time. What a douchebag. But that's not the movie's fault!

To cut a long story short: 8.5 out of 10.
