Last night Michelangelo, the remaining one of my two degus sadly died. Like his fellow Leonardo that suffered from cancer last year, he had a very long life compared to other degus and he was such a friendly and funny dude.
In the end he was a silent guy and his fur turned more into grey. You could clearly see his age. Nevertheless he was quite fit. He already was much more sleepy the last weeks and yesterday evening when I fed him, he cuddled on my hand several times before going into his nest. It seems he silently faded away and that’s possibly the best thing you can die. He was a good example of how even small rodents can be very friendly and personal after such a long time.
