This morning the first version of the Internet Channel on the Nintendo Wii got released. I instantly downloaded it (for free) and tried out some sites. Though the browser is still labeled as test version it runs stable and the controls are intuitive and easy to use. The Browser itself is an adjusted version of Opera complying with the current HTML and XHTML standards. It already has installed a Flash plugin and can be used as a powerful execution environment for AJAX, web applications, widgets and dynamic user interfaces. It really seems that Opera has found it’s place in the browser development circus as they deliver the browser functionality for a lot of other devices like the NintendoDS browser.
