No one knows what’s the real reason. But Motorola decided to put the clock speed of the Milestone XT720 down to 550MHz in delivery state and raised it lateron via a system update to 720MHz. The processor itself is able running a stable clock speed of 1GHz. I decided to root the phone and raise the clock speed of the TI OMAP3440 and the performance after this “update” is absolutely great! I was quite satisfied with the performance of the phone before, but now it’s stunning! With the appropriate setCPU profiles the phone even features a longer battery life compared to the standard settings. Weird, but nice! o/
