Geotagging images

If you liked the possibility at flickr.com to geotag your images, you surely asked youself how to do this with a bunch of photos at home. There is a quite easy and comfortable way to do this using Google Picasa and Google Earth. Just install these two (fine and free) applications. Then select some images in Picasa and choose “Tools -> Geotag -> Geotag with Google Earth“. Google Earth is started now and you get a reticule to point on the place the photos were taken. Now click on “Geotag images” followed by “Finish“. The data are now added to the Exif metadata of your images and you successfully geotagged your photos. This can be quite useful especially for images that don’t contain the visual informations needed to identify the place lateron. Have fun.
